Coaches-

It is that time of year again! Coaching certification requirements! Whether this is your first year volunteering or your third year as a coach for Hanover Youth Hockey, we all must comply with the USA Hockey Regulationsas outlined on http://www.usahockey.com/coaches/coaches.aspx. This email includes important information from the USA Hockey website regarding your coaching certification.

REGISTRATION

All ice hockey coaches as well as instructors of USA Hockey shall be registered (before) the current season in order to be eligible to coach/instruct in an regular season activities.

COACHING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

You will need to complete the module(s) for the age level(s) of play that you are head or assistant coach. If you are coaching multiple age levels then you will need to complete the module for each age group. If you are not certified, you will need to complete the module for your coaching age group. You must pass all chapters by Dec. 31 to meet the Coaching Education Program requirement.

You do not need to retake a module if you completed it last season AND are coaching the same age level again this year.

 2. COACHING EDUCATION CLINICS  http://www.usahockey.com/viewallclinics.aspx

You are only eligible to attend one certification clinic per year. All coaches must enter USA Hockey’s Coaching Education Program at Level 1, and must continue their education with a coaching clinic each year until, at a minimum, they achieve Level 3.
If your Level 1 or 2 certification level is expired, or expiring on Dec. 31, 2012, you must attend a clinic.  If you are Level 3 certified, you must recertify by Dec. 31.

Not Certified Coaches: If this is your first year, you will need to go on USA Hockey website www.usahockey.com , click on the Coaches tab. You will need to create a USA Hockey log-in for the Clinics (this log in is NOT related to your USA Hockey member registration or modules). Age Specific Modules are administered by FlexxCOACH website and requires a FlexxCOACH log in.
You can search Level 1 Certification Clinics in MA on-line and register. You will need to pass both your Level 1 Clinic and your Age Specific Module.

Level 1 and 2 Certified Coaches: Go to the USA Hockey website under the Coaches tab for instructions for new CEP rules and requirements, coaching clinics and Age Specific Modules if applicable.

Level 3 Certified Coaches: Renew online on USA Hockey, if your certification expires 12/31/12 or has already expired. There are other Level 3 tracks that apply, but they do not apply to the present group of HYH Level 3 Coaches.

Level 4 Certified Coaches: You only need to complete the Age Module.

This year I will be your contact for all USA Hockey Coaching matters and I will do my best to assist you through out the season. If you would like to search your coaching certification, expiration and CEP#, go tohttp://www.usahockey.com/CoachingClinicCertSearch.aspx

Please email me proof of completion of your Level certification when completed.

Please be aware that clinics in November and December will be filling up quickly. Both Clinic and Age Specific Modules must be completed by 12/31/12. All coaches must have the required certification level by January 1 of the current season.
